The IWA Market
In December 1983, the first “Italian Day in Sandy Bay” was held, a market of products donated by Italian companies.
Since then, this charity event has always had the aim of raising funds to support the projects of the 'Duchess of Kent' Children's Hospital, specialized in the treatment of orthopedic pathologies and neurological and degenerative diseases.
The Hospital was founded by the ' Society for the Relief of Disabled Children ' in the mid-1950s.
The funds raised during this day have always allowed the Hospital to sponsor free medical services for needy disabled children, to renovate departments and to purchase specialist surgical equipment. In addition to helping the Children's Hospital, the funds raised during this event also benefit other charitable organizations in Hong Kong and Macao, which are in need of our help and whose projects are selected by us with great care every year.
Due to Covid restrictions, the 2021 and 2022 editions of the Market were held at PMQ.
In 2023 “The Iwa Market” returns to its original location at the Children's Hospital in Sandy Bay.
“The IWA Market” remains an important charity event for the Italian and local community over the years, thanks to the people who participate, the companies who donate the products, the volunteers who help us sell them and the institutions who support us.
