On December 1983, the first ‘Italian Day at Sandy Bay Fund Raising Event‘ took place. Ever since, this charity event has aimed at raising funds for the projects of the pediatric hospital ‘ Duchess of Kent ‘, specialized in the treatment of orthopedic, neurological and degenerative diseases. The Hospital was funded by the Society for the Relief of Disabled Children in the mid 50’s. http://www.srdc.org.hk/
The funds raised during this day have always allowed the Hospital to sponsor free medical services for children with disabilities in need, to restructure departments, to purchase specialized surgical equipment, etc.
On top of being of great help to the Pediatric Hospital, the funds raised during this event also benefit other needy charity in Hong Kong and Macau. Every year, we carefully select all the projects that we intend to support.
The event, which takes place yearly on the first Saturday of December, consists of two main attractions: ‘The Market‘, a charity bazaar with products donated by our generous sponsors, and the ‘Gourmet Corner’, where people can sit and enjoy tasty Italian snacks and a light meal.
This important annual event aims at raising the awareness of the Italian and local community and with it, of all the people, companies and institutions who see in our ‘Italian Day at Sandy Bay’ an important opportunity to contribute to the success of this charity event.
